Fried Green Tomatoes Anyone!?!
Fried Green Tomatoes
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c milk
- 1 cup flour
- 3/4 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 3 or 4 green tomatoes, cut into slices as thick as you like them
- oil for frying (I use canola)
- additional salt for sprinkling
- horseradish sauce (if desired)
Combine the egg and milk in a shallow bowl (I like to use a pie pan).
Combine the flour, cornmeal, teaspoon salt and pepper in another shallow bowl.
Coat tomatoe slices with flour/cornmeal mixture. Dip into egg mixture and then back into flour/cornmeal mixture. Set aside.
Pour oil into a cast iron skillet until about 1/4 to 1/2 inch in depth. Heat over medium to medium high heat. Drop tomatoes in batches into hot oil (don't crowd) and fry till golden. Flip over and continue until other side is golden and crisp as well. Drain on a cookie sheet covered with paper towels. Sprinkle with additional salt while still hot.
Enjoy!
*For horseradish sauce; mix mayo and bottled horseradish (found in the refrigerator aisle) to taste.

Fred
He'll work for food.
He's loyal, loving and funny. I know he understands me. He hangs onto every word I say. He's up for anything.
He's a napper. This picture makes him look chubbier than he actually is...honest.
He travels well.
He's stolen my heart.

My week in Mass
Back to my post about Massachusetts. I love that state. Not as much as I love Pennsylvania, but it ranks high up there for me. Probably the main reason I love it so much, is that the three men that mean the world to me spend quite a bit of time there. We have an apartment up there which is why it is my home away from home. When I'm not here, I'm probably there.
We went to Boston. Did a little shopping. Went to the beach. When to Plymouth to see "the rock". Hung out. Ate out. Went whale watching and celebrated my oldest sons birthday. He's 24...where does the time go!?!
A dunkin donuts on practically every street corner. I don't understand!
Plymouth Rock
The pugs laid around all week and relaxed.
Went to Craigville Beach. We also went to Horseneck beach.
Love the new scrabble Cheez-its.
Massachusetts has a large population of Portuguese. These ladies on the side of this building in Provincetown were prominent women that kept the town afloat while their men where out to sea.
I tried to get him to hold still so I could get a decent shot but he wouldn't cooperate. Whale watching is awesome.

A quickie from Massachusetts
I was just going down through my daily list of blogs and decided to take a peek at my own "very new" blog. I'm so excited! I have some new followers! Hello, again! Thank you for following me! It makes me feel encouraged to continue on. I am new to this and really have no idea what I'm doing. What I do know, is that I am excited to have finally taken the plunge into the blog world and cannot wait to see where it leads me. So many great blogs, so many great bloggers.
I didn't bring any camera cords to connect up and my iPhone broke (got a new one) so I can't even share any pictures from it...like the yummy sticky buns we had in Boston. I'm having fun at my home away from home an am taking pictures to share next week. Please hold on...please don't go away...I haven't even had a chance to get to know you...yet.
